BetMGM Launches Online Championships, Biggest Series in Poker Platform’s History

Some bragging rights are on the line after BetMGM Poker announced the launch of the BetMGM Poker Online Championships on Monday.
The online poker platform is available in Michigan. The Championships feature 26 events running in all three states from Sept. 15-25 across all three states featuring more than $2 million in total guarantees.
The new series comes as BetMGM/partypoker US continues offering expanded and unique online series each month. The company also ran the BetMGM Poker Championship Las Vegas with numerous online qualifiers in the mix.
“This has been a transformational year for BetMGM Poker,” BetMGM director of poker Luke Staudenmaier said in a news release. “Following a groundbreaking live event at Aria in June, the Online Championships is the largest online series in BetMGM poker history. The momentum that we’ve experienced in the past three months has inspired us to push for new heights.”

Highlights of the BetMGM Poker Online Championships
Players in the Online Championships will find buy-ins ranging from $100 to $2,500. The schedule features mostly Pot Limit Omaha events also thrown in.
Players will also find four events with buy-ins of $1,000 or higher. That includes the $2,500 High Roller running Sept. 18 with a $100,000 guarantee in New Jersey, $50,000 in Pennsylvania, and $75,000 in Michigan.
The bigger buy-in events also include the $1,000 PLO High Roller on Sept. 24 and $1,000 Championship Sept. 25. The series also features three popular progressive knockout (PKO) events, including a $500 Super Bounty on Sept. 19. PKO tournaments have become some of the most popular online events in poker.
Unlike a traditional bounty tournament, players win only a portion of an opponent’s bounty after an elimination. The other portion is added to the winning player’s bounty, seeing bounties increase throughout the series. This gives players a chance to win even more for each elimination the deeper they go in the tournament.
Series qualifiers run from Sept. 10-25, with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $100. Players can also take advantage of early registration. Here’s a look at the entire series.
